Good Books, Good Food, Good Friends
Or, why we do what we do.
The Literary is a woman-and-locally-owned business that exists to make people feel better when they leave than they did when they walked in.
It's hard times out there. We truly believe (even though it's cheesy) that if you leave The Literary feeling just a little bit better than you did when you came in and you take that touch of brightness with you into your day, you might make someone else's day a little brighter too. It's a tiny little way of making the world just a tiny bit better, and it matters big time.
How do we try to make you feel little bit better? With good food, good drink, good books, and good friends. The Literary is meant to be as close to a Third Space as a business can get; a place that is built for connection, for belonging, and for the community. Plus, the people who work here are really nice.
Everything we do is with our community in mind.
We opened at the tail-end of the pandemic because we so desperately needed to re-connect with each other, with our community, and with what sparkles our humanity. We may be just a small business, but we're doing our best to do as much good as we possibly can in our own little way. We share our platform and our space with people and groups who are doing good work and cool things in our town at no cost. We host as many free events as we are able. We donate to organizations and non-profits who are doing the work all year long. We keep books on our shelves that shine a light when one is needed, and help you escape to another world when it's required. We serve delicious and interesting dishes and seasonally rotating custom cocktails and mocktails (and wine and beer). And we keep the caffeine coming in so many delicious forms.
Just like you, we're doing our best in this moment and we're so glad you're here with us.
